TP Vision brings the magic of Philips Ambilight into the room with AmbiScape
Berlin, September 3, 2026
Full AmbiScape experience now available on 2026 Philips Ambilight TVs, with Matter over Thread support planned to broaden smart-light compatibility in 2027
TP Vision is expanding Philips Ambilight beyond the screen with the full version of AmbiScape, now available on 2026 Philips Ambilight TVs from the 8000 Series upwards. AmbiScape connects and controls up to four compatible smart lights using Matter over Wi-Fi, allowing the colours and atmosphere of Ambilight to extend further into the room.
As the next step, TP Vision plans to introduce Matter over Thread support and certification in the first half of 2027. The feature is scheduled to debut on 2027 Philips Ambilight TV models before being rolled out to compatible 2026 models. Matter over Thread support will broaden compatibility with additional smart-lighting products. TP Vision is also exploring raising the current limit of four connected lights.
“Ambilight has always made the TV experience feel bigger and more immersive, and many of our customers tell us they would like to bring that experience further into the room,” said Anette van Dijk, Head of Marketing Europe, TP Vision. “AmbiScape makes this easy, while giving people the freedom to choose from a growing range of compatible smart lights. With Matter over Thread support planned for 2027, that choice will expand even further, allowing Ambilight to create a richer and more personal atmosphere throughout the room.”
More choice in smart lighting
AmbiScape currently uses Matter over Wi-Fi to connect to compatible smart lights. The supported range includes E27 smart bulbs. Users can connect and control up to four supported lights simultaneously, including combinations of products from different brands. Planned Matter over Thread support will expand the range of compatible products further, while TP Vision continues to explore increasing the maximum number of connected lights.
Smart lights, simple setup
Users set up AmbiScape through the Philips Smart TV app and can then activate it directly from the TV’s on-screen quick menu or through the Ambilight settings. After selecting AmbiScape on the TV, users simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the app to connect their lights and assign each one a position in the room. Each connected light can be set to sync with Ambilight in video or music mode, or to display a selected static colour. The lights respond with low latency, extending the Ambilight effect beyond the screen and across the room.
AmbiScape debuted in a limited trial on selected 2025 models during the fourth quarter of 2025. While those models required manual configuration through the TV menu, the full 2026 version introduces a simpler, app-guided process through the Philips Smart TV app.
Ambilight feels bigger
Ambilight remains the defining feature for Philips TVs, creating an experience that feels bigger, more immersive and more personal. Its appeal is reflected in the strong loyalty of Ambilight owners, with more than 80% saying their next TV must also feature Ambilight.
AmbiScape builds on this enthusiasm by taking the Ambilight effect beyond the TV and into the room. Compatible smart lights mirror the colours and dynamics of the content on screen, giving viewers greater freedom to create an immersive setting for films, shows, music and games.
AmbiScape availability
The full version of AmbiScape is available on 2026 Philips Ambilight TVs from the 8000 Series upwards, including all 2026 OLED models and the RGB Mini-LED 981. TP Vision plans to launch Matter over Thread support on 2027 Philips Ambilight TV models in the first half of 2027 and extend it to compatible 2026 models thereafter.
