  • Latest version of Remote TV app released with improved usability & features
  • Smart home functionality included with exclusive launch of MyLiveGuard app

Brussels, 18th February, 2016 – TP Vision is adding both improved performance and more content to its Smart TV functionality with the launch of the 2016 Philips TV range.

The 2016 Android TV™ models will guarantee a powerful performance with all models featuring expandable internal storage and super-fast Quad Core processing.

Consumers can also expect a wider choice of content thanks to new partnerships with a selection of exciting new gaming and streaming partners including leading companies: Amazon, Gamefly, Chillingo and Gameloft. The new content is due to be made available to coincide with the availability of the new 2016 sets as they launch in the first-half 2016. The new content will significantly extend both the existing video streaming and games offerings on both the Philips Smart TV and Philips Android TV platforms.

The MyLiveGuard Smart home app brings the smart home ecosystem in to the Philips Android TV  offering and will be exclusively available on Philips Android TV devices for one year from launch.

More Video Streaming

Philips’ range of video streaming options will significantly increase with the addition of Amazon Instant Video service to the Philips Android TV platform.

The service will initially be available in the UK and Germany to coincide with the launch of the 2016 range and will offer Full HD streaming to all Philips Android TVs with the option of UHD streaming to all Philips 2016 Android UHD sets.

A wide and varied selection of games

Available for Q1 2016 for all 2014, 2015 and 2016 Philips Android TVs the new content partnerships will add some of the most popular games including:  Grid racing, Batman Lego, MotoGP and Dirt from Gamefly; Asphalt 8: Airborne and GT Racing 2 from Gameloft and Feed me Oil 2 from Chillingo – plus many more.

The Philips Smart TV platform will also offer a new subscription games service, Gametree TV Gold from TransGaming, which will offer the ever popular games Rummikub®, Tetris® and WPT® with more to follow.

Plus children’s content has also been boosted by the inclusion of Toon Goggles, the premier on demand destination for kids.

All Philips Android TV devices deliver a fluid gaming experience without the need for a separate gaming console thanks to the inclusion of powerful quad core chipsets and large expandable internal memory.

A truly unique and totally immersive, extended and enhanced, gaming experience can also be created thanks to Ambilight technology and it’s dedicated super-dynamic gaming mode – creating a halo of light and changing colours, to precisely match and extend the on-screen action, on the wall behind the set. And with its recently launched ultimate incarnation, AmbiLux, the picture is enlarged and taken beyond the boundaries of the ultra slim-line design set by the nine pico-projectors mounted in the rear of the TV.

For maximum flexibility, compatible games can be controlled via the TV remote alternatively up to four Bluetooth game controllers connected to the TV for an authentic gaming experience.

In addition to the wider choice of online games, there’s also great news for console gamers as the 2016 Philips Android TV range – from the 6401 upwards – will boast one of the lowest HDMI input lag times offering super-fast in game response times.

Extended functionality

Philips Smart TV’s have always offered extended functionality – including the unique option of connecting an external storage device to use the PVR functionality of the Android TV platform.

TP Vision was also one of the first to offer a TV control app via the Philips TV Remote App which has been continually updated following user feedback. New for 2016 is a more secure pin-based pairing between screen and Smart device plus the ability to easily control the TV even when the phone or tablet is locked.

The Philips TV Remote App remains unique as the only TV app that allows viewers to watch free-to-air programs as they move from room to room, while transferring live content from the TV onto their tablet  – function availability depends on country specific copyright.

The Remote App also allows users to plan an evening’s viewing, of programmes and movies, by adding reminders or by searching for content via voice or text.
