Amsterdam, March 17th, 2015 – TP Vision places Philips Smart TVs at the heart of modern living rooms by embracing the latest version of Android 5.0, Lollipop and integrating it into more than two thirds of its 2015 Philips TV models. This further strengthens TP Vision’s position as a prime mover in the Android eco-system.
Second generation of Android
The second generation of Philips TVs powered by Android TV offer an advanced Smart TV experience with broadcast and on-demand TV services plus a wide selection of online apps dedicated to TV usage. Powered by high-performance multi-core chipsets, Philips Smart TVs are ideal for gamers. They can play both cloud-hosted and downloaded games without the need to connect a costly gaming console to the TV. Unique Ambilight with Gaming Mode makes the gaming experience more immersive.
Smart Home dashboard
Philips TVs powered by Android TV connect to other smart devices in the house easily and play an important role in the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT). Given that about 90 per cent of all Philips Smart TVs powered by Android TV are connected to the internet, they are ideally suited to be used as the central dashboard in the Smart Home. The Android ecosystem provides a large pool of home automation applications, smart appliances and home security solutions, which can be managed and controlled with ease via the largest screen in the house.
Ease of use
TP Vision’s design team attached supreme importance to the usability of these new Android TV powered TVs with their rich choice of services, applications and content. Therefore, they developed an improved, clutter-free graphical user interface featuring new Philips Shelf. This offers quick, personalised access to most used apps and recommendations based on personal preferences. In addition, a remote control with voice control integrated keyboard for easy text input and a swipe pad for fast navigation facilitates easy handling. Together with voice- control powered by Android TV, this is a true break-through in simple, effective design.
Philips TVs sit beautifully in modern homes
Four out of five TV owners place their TVs in the living room and our designers produce designs that complement stylish interiors. Philips TVs subtly radiate European finesse and craftsmanship with their extremely small bezels and refined stands and feet – all made of quality materials.
It’s not just about looks: our designs allow our unique Ambilight technology to perform at its best. Thanks to the extremely tight bezels, the on-screen content seamlessly continues on the wall behind the Philips Ambilight TV and makes both the TV and gaming experience more immersive. Ambilight’s Lounge Mode also offers interior designers new possibilities as they can use it to integrate Philips TVs into a sophisticated lighting concept.
