Philips Ultra Alkaline Batteries

Our Ultra Alkaline batteries are certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, which means they meet strict environmental, health and quality standards throughout their entire life cycle. This makes them not only a reliable choice, but also a sustainable one.

Nordic Swan Ecolabelled primary batteries:

  • Have a low content of heavy metals.
  • Do not contain Polyvinyl chloride PVC.
  • Meet a CSR policy to ensure responsible use and sourcing of limited raw materials and conflict-free minerals.
  • Meet stringent requirements for both battery operation time, shelf life, safety and quality.

Headphones

The majority of headphones launched in 2025 have the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) certification or Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification, and this will be implemented for 2026 as well. The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) are international, voluntary standards that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled input and chain of custody. It is a chain of custody standard to track recycled raw materials through the supply chain. It uses the chain of custody requirements of the Content Claim Standard (CSS).

The RCS is intended for use with any product that contains at least 5% recycled material and the GRS for products that contain at least 50% recycled material. Each stage of production is required to be certified, beginning at the recycling stage and ending at the last seller in the final business-to-business transaction. Material Collection and Material Concentration sites are subject to self-declaration, document collection, and on-site visits.

The goal of the standards is to increase the use of Recycled materials in products and supply chains.

  • Alignment of Recycled definitions across multiple applications.
  • Tracking and tracing Recycled input materials.
  • Providing customers (both brands and consumers) with a tool to make informed decisions.
  • Providing assurance that materials in the final product are actually recycled and processed more sustainably.

TV remote control

One of the new TV remote control features, to be implemented in all European markets, is a dedicated ‘green button’. Identified by a green leaf, the long of press of the green button key will lead the user directly to the Eco menu and to recommendations of how to achieve lower power consumption. In addition to offering a better and more personal user experience, the green button will also lead to a more conscious and easy way of watching television while saving some energy. For all of our remote controls we use 85% post-consumer recycled plastics per 2024.

TVs

Philips TVs including entry, mid-range and highend models has used post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics in the manufacture of the sets’ back covers. The back covers are manufactured with between 30% & 50% of PCR plastics, with TP Vision committing to continually increasing the PCR plastic content in future products.

Sustainable packaging

Audio packaging

TP Vision incorporates 100% plastic-free packaging into many new audio products, including headphones. This includes using materials like recycled cardboard and paper pulp trays, while reducing packaging size. The Philips Century series, celebrating the brand’s 100th anniversary, features this eco-friendly packaging alongside the use of post consumer recycled plastics in the headphones themselves.

The Philips Century series is a range of five audio products each designed to celebrate the brand’s role as a true pioneer in the world of audio for over a century. The five new products include two turntable based all-in-one systems, a new DAB/FM portable radio and two new headphone models – with all due to be available in September.

  • The Tina (Philips V9000) – is the world’s most powerful, all-in-one integrated turntable system offering 120W RMS power and including both DAB+/FM tuner and streaming functionality.
  • The Stevie: (Philips V3000) – is an entry level integrated turntable system.
  • The Janet (Philips V2000) – is a Portable Radio with DAB+/FM. In this range, The Janet’s battery can be easily replaced.
  • The Freddie Philips (SHP9500CY) – is a retro styled, open backed, over-ear wired headphone.
  • The Ringo (Philips H2000) – is a retro styled, compact & light weight on-ear headphone.

Headphone packaging

We will introduce smaller packaging for our headphones series where we save around 10% of the volume for our 2025 models. We will also introduce more products with post-consumer recycled plastics during the course of 2025.

Logistics

The company has invested in advance logistics planning to ensure that shipments from the TP Vision factories in China are mainly made by sea rather than rail. The result is that in 2024, 85% of shipments were by sea, and 15% were by train. Within the EU we only use trucks for the shipment of our products to our clients.
